I found myself an omen and I tattooed on a sign

I set my mind a wandering and I walk a broken line

You have a mind to keep me quiet

And although you can try

Better men have hit their knees

And bigger men have died

"Raise Hell" by Brandi Carlile

  • UPDATE*: The Harpy proved not enough to save Pittsburgh. One of the last surviving members of the Kindred who helped establish Pittsburgh. Dionysus looked around to find the court held only unfamiliar faces. Everyone they knew and loved before the Death of Johnny Wright was either dead or gone. Every one of their mentors were dead or insane. They had lost friends, lovers, teachers, a sibling, and the last remaining people who made Pittsburgh home. The failure and destruction of everything the Harpy had tried to build cemented their decision. They left Pittsburg that very night.

In the months that followed, the Angel was sold. Under new management for the first time in 200 years. Musicians up and down the East Coast lamented the loss of such a storied and well loved music venue. The Angel had seen the birth of rock and roll, it was a safe haven for queer creators when such places weren't even conceivable to the American public.

The greater loss all agreed, was the sudden disappearance of Dionysus Vin Saint. The Rock star was last seen in their Pittsbugh home above the Angel. That was the last time the Mortal World saw them. The Angels sale was handled through intermediaries and only the signature on the paper showed the Voice of the Angel still lived. After that the tale goes stone cold.

Years later an enterprising documentary team would put together a film called "The Wine Saint" investigating the sudden disappearance. It would raise more questions then it answered. No one could find any record of Dionysus' "real name". The only real link they could find is a cousin named Sidney "Sid" Saint-Frédéric who owned a bar in New Orleans called "The Broken Wineglass", by all accounts one of the best music venues in town. The remaining members of the Pittsburgh Court couldn't help but notice their former Harpy. The documentary however showed them happy and healthy, flanked on either side by a flock of admirers. One hopes most of them simply turned off the TV and forgot what they saw. Dionysus was no more. But the world would not want for their beauty, their passion, and their love. The Saint of the Swamps became their new moniker. And they were never seen in a Camarilla court again.**

If one were to capture the essence of a creature like the Wine Saint, one would be hard pressed. Most walk away with the impression of someone with an intense confidence and a quick temper. But those who watch them for longer than may be prudent would discover a creature of surpassing empathy. A quick word with someone powerful and beautiful will be a long conversation with someone others think nothing of. Music enthusiasts still puzzle over the apparent music dynasty which has been birthed out Pittsburgh's premiere night club, The Angel. The latest Face of this musical empire is Dionysus Vin Saint and the Cult of Dionysus. The new Indie rock sensation has been making their presence known on the East Coast, but deep within the Angel lies a history that spans last hundred years of American Music. Maybe if your very luck, or very unlucky, you may even hear the Angel sing.

La Durée

  • Arrive in Pittsburgh in 1890 with their sire. At the time they were using male pronouns under the name Gavroche Voix D'Ange
  • 1927 The Ill conceived attack on the One Drop Casino relieves Dionysus of their sire, They immediately abandons all pretense of strict male presentation adopting They/Them pronouns, rejecting the moniker "Son of Discord" and adopting "Child of Dissonance".
  • 1929 Gavroche opens a Caberet, Voix D'Ange. It was known for its broad acceptance of Performers of color, jazz, rag, and swing bands when many bars in the area were ousting them. As such the Voix D'Ange saw a boom during the depression where largely the low prices and mixed crowd allowed many a place the would not have had elsewhere.
  • 1940s Gavroche returns to the stage under the pseudonym Chevalier D’Eon. Their career lasts only a short while before it becomes clear American entertainment is not ready to handle the androgyny
  • 1950 the Voix D'Ange is rechristened as The Angel
  • 1970's Gathers a few human retainers together to create a band known as "Gentleman Jack" performing under the Androgynous title of Mister Anne Lister

  • 2020 While the group gathers an intense following on Tiktok among queer teenagers, the Pandemic drives many adults onto the app exposing them to the newly dubbed "Cult of Dionysus".
  • 2022 Finishing up their Worldwide tour, Dionysus takes some time to get the city back into order while also writing the bands 4th album
